The BA in Psychology at SPU is designed for students pursuing a degree in psychology with diverse career and graduate school interests, including clinical psychology, counseling psychology, marriage and family therapy, social work, school counseling, and industrial-organizational psychology.

The BA in Psychology requires a minimum of between 62 and 92 credits, depending upon the chosen track. Each track also requires 36 upper-division credits, and at least 20 credits while in residence at SPU.

BA Tracks

Animal Behavior — Designed for students interested in animal behavior psychology, training animals, working with pet owners, or becoming a certified applied animal behaviorist. .

Clinical-Counseling Psychology — Focuses on clinical psychology, counseling psychology, and marriage and family therapy, preparing students for graduate programs or careers researching or providing therapy and mental health counseling. .

Community Psychology and Behavioral Mental Health — Emphasizes social justice psychology, community mental health, and nonprofit leadership for students pursuing careers in social work, public health, and behavioral health services. .

Cross-Cultural — Explores cultural psychology, international psychology, and multicultural counseling, preparing students to work with diverse populations or in cultural studies and global mental health. .

Data Analytics — Develops skills in psychological data analysis, statistics, research methods, and data visualization, preparing students for careers in data analytics, consumer psychology, business intelligence, or mental health research. .

Developmental Psychology — Focuses on lifespan development psychology and prepares students for graduate studies or careers in areas like child development, educational psychology, or child life specialist roles. .

Psychological Science — A flexible track in general psychology with fewer credit requirements, ideal for students interested in psychological research, experimental psychology, or maximizing internship and cross-disciplinary study. .

Social-Personality Psychology — Covers social psychology, personality psychology, and behavioral science, equipping students for careers in research, program development, data analysis, and social behavior consulting. .

Sports Psychology — Focuses on sports psychology, performance psychology, and athlete mental health, preparing students for careers or graduate programs in sports counseling, coaching, or team performance optimization. .
