POLITICAL SCIENCE – INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS MAJOR
Suggested Course Sequence: A Four-Year Plan

At least 56 total and 25 upper-division credits are required for the BA in Political Science – International Affairs major. This course sequence is meant to be used as a guideline. Consult with your faculty advisor or academic counselor about modifying this plan to meet your needs, and to reflect any coursework you have already completed prior to enrolling at SPU.

YEAR 1	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter
Common Curriculum		OR	OR
Major				POL 1110, GEO 1110
Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)	Begin or resume elementary foreign language, if competency requirement is not complete. Unless you are exempt, take the Math Placement Test at least three academic quarters before you intend to take your Exploratory Curriculum math class. Complete ENG 2201, if required.			AHA, AHB, AHC, SSA, NSA, NSB, MAT (Choose one to three depending on competency courses needed)
Other				Electives to reach at least 45 credits if needed

YEAR 2	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter
Common Curriculum				/
Major				Select two of the following: POL 3670, 2330, 2642, 3170, or 3440; POL 2320
Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)				AHA, AHB, AHC, SSA, NSA, NSB, MAT (Choose three to five depending on competency courses needed)
Other	Apply for admission to the major			Electives to reach at least 90 credits if needed

YEAR 3	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter
Common Curriculum
Major				POL 4643; Select two of the following: POL 3320, 4310, 4911 or GEO 3500; Select one of the following: POL 4641 or 4642
Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)				AHA, AHB, AHC, SSA, NSA, NSB, MAT (whichever categories remain unfulfilled)
Other	Apply to graduate once 105 credits and admission to major have been earned.			Electives to reach at least 135 credits if needed

YEAR 4	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter
Common Curriculum
Major				POL 4899; POL electives (10 required total, consult with your faculty advisor)
Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)				AHA, AHB, AHC, SSA, SSB, NSA, NSB, MAT (whichever categories remain unfulfilled)
Other	Create a final-year plan and meet with your faculty advisor for review.			Electives to reach at least 180 total college-level quarter credits and 60 upper-division credits if needed
