EUROPEAN STUDIES - FRENCH MAJOR
Suggested Course Sequence: A Four-Year Plan

At least 59 total and 25 upper-division credits, including 18 upper-division credits taught in French. This course sequence is meant to be used as a guideline. Consult with your faculty advisor or academic counselor about modifying this plan to meet your needs, and to reflect any coursework you have already completed prior to enrolling at SPU.

Major				EUR 1110, LIN 2100
Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)	Elementary French (FRE 1101, 1102, 1103) if required Unless you are exempt, take the Math Placement Test at least three academic quarters before you intend to take your Exploratory Curriculum math class. Complete ENG 2201, if required.			SSA, SSB, NSA, NSB, MAT (Choose one to four depending on competency courses needed)
Other				Electives to reach at least 45 credits if needed

YEAR 2	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter
Common Curriculum				/
Major				French language: 20 credits are required. Minimum competency through 2103.
Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)				SSA, SSB, NSA, NSB, MAT (whichever categories remain unfulfilled)
Other	Apply for admission to the major. A 2.0 GPA is required, in addition to a 2.5 GPA in 10 credits of coursework at SPU in foreign languages or European Studies.			Electives to reach at least 90 credits if needed

YEAR 3	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter
Common Curriculum
Major		EUR 4254, EUR 3000		French language: 20 credits are required. Minimum competency through 2103. French Literature: 18 upper-division credits must be in courses taught in French. EUR 3100, EUR 3500
Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)				SSA, SSB, NSA, NSB, MAT (whichever categories remain unfulfilled)
Other	Apply to graduate once 105 credits and admission to major have been earned.			Electives to reach at least 135 credits if needed

YEAR 4	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter
Common Curriculum
Major		EUR 4254, EUR 3000		EUR 4899; French Literature: 18 upper-division credits must be in courses taught in French. A 3-5 credit approved course in European Literature; Proficiency in another European language (Elementary level instruction through third quarter level)
Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)				SSA, SSB, NSA, NSB, MAT (whichever categories remain unfulfilled)
Other	Create a final-year plan and meet with your faculty advisor for review.			Electives to reach at least 180 total college-level quarter credits and 60 upper-division credits if needed
