FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES – INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY DEVELOPMENT MAJOR
Suggested Course Sequence: A Four-Year Plan

At least 63 total and 25 upper-division credits are required for the BA in Family and Consumer Sciences – Individual and Family Development major. This course sequence is meant to be used as a guideline. Consult with your faculty advisor or academic counselor about modifying this plan to meet your needs, and to reflect any coursework you have already completed prior to enrolling at SPU.

Major				FCS 1050, PSY 1180 or SOC 1110
Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)	Begin or resume elementary foreign language, if competency requirement is not complete. Unless you are exempt, take the Math Placement Test at least three academic quarters before you intend to take your Exploratory Curriculum math class. Complete ENG 2201, if required.			AHA, AHB, AHC, SSB, NSA, NSB, MAT (Choose one to three depending on competency courses needed)
Other				Electives to reach at least 45 credits if needed

Other	Apply for admission to the major once at least three FCS courses have been completed. A 2.5 GPA is required.			Electives to reach at least 90 credits if needed

Other	Apply to graduate once 105 credits and admission to major have been earned.			Electives to reach at least 135 credits if needed

Major		PSY 4420		FCS 4899, PSY 4460 FCS 49XX (2-5 credits) Internship or Practicum, PSY 4420 orSOC 3270 or SOC 3862 or SOC 4210 or SOC 4252

Other	Create a final-year plan and meet with your faculty advisor for review.			Electives to reach at least 180 total college-level quarter credits and 60 upper-division credits if needed
